Buy Local Agricultural Products

Local agriculture connects people to powerful local flavors that did not require chemical preservatives or a 1,000-mile journey to the supermarket. Supermarkets stock foods that are driven, shipped, and flown cross country, resulting in greater amounts of greenhouse pollutants released while bringing these products to market.

Supporting local agriculture also benefits local economies. Choosing to buy from local farms keeps the money otherwise sent out of state or country in the area and promotes a stable productive economy.

Local agriculture is sustainable agriculture and offers the best opportunity to think globally while eating locally. Support your local farmers’ market.
